Pipersville

Pipersville

Pipersville, Pennsylvania, located at the intersection of Route 611 and Pennsylvania Route 413 in historic Bucks County, is a wonderful place to live, work, and experience history. For example, according to its website, https://pipersvillelibrary.org/history-of-the-library/, “the Pipersville Library is housed in a building that has been designated a Historic Place by the Bucks County Conservancy. The building was originally constructed in 1886 as a one-room chapel. It was a nondenominational Sunday School, and classes were cordoned off by curtains that hung from rods running the width of the building. The rods are still there today, as is the bell tower, although the bell is no longer rung.”

This unincorporated community straddles Bedminster and Plumstead townships, and is located just 32 miles for Philadelphia.

Visitors come from near and far to enjoy the many activities available in Ralph Stover State Park. If the weather is uncooperative, a day can instead be spent touring the historic Stover-Myers Mill on Dark Hollow Road. According to https://buckscountyherald.com/historic-stovermyers-mill-in-pipersville-open-for-tours-p2334-175.htm, “Originally powered by a waterwheel, turbines were later installed, followed by a steam engine around 1880… On demonstration days, … corn will be milled with the original millstones and transported in a restored elevator. On view throughout and around the four-story building are three sets of original millstones, turbines, sifters, grain cleaners, a corn sheller, bagger, elevators, gearing, sack hoist, storage bins, sections of the roller mills and the sawmill.”

Many residents and visitors, regardless of how they spent their day, quell their hunger with a lunch or dinner in the history-filled Piper Inn, which was established in 1778.
