Sellersville
Sellersville, Pennsylvania, is a borough in Bucks County that was founded in the early 18th century. Colloquially referred to being located in “Upper Bucks,” it is about 30 miles from Philadelphia and 22 miles south of Allentown, so its residents appreciate a largely residential and suburban oasis that affords ready access to cities that afford a plethora of services as well as historical and entertainment and dining options.
The quaint town includes covered bridges, a local theater, and a museum dedicated to its proud history. In fact, the Historical Society of Pennsylvania has dedicated a page to many details about Sellersville at https://hsp.org/blogs/archival-adventures-in-small-repositories/sellersville-a-balance-of-industry-with-arts-and-culture. It starts with: “Sellersville, Bucks County, Pennsylvania is named for one of its prominent citizens, Samuel Sellers. In the 18th century, Sellers built and operated Sellers’ Tavern on the main road in town and also served in the Pennsylvania legislature and as a sheriff for Bucks County. The tavern built by Sellers was a focal point around which the rest of the community grew, and it even served as the town’s post office for many years. The Sellersville Museum, located in a former school building [at 120 East Church Street], has dedicated multiple rooms (spread out among two floors) to displaying various artifacts, costumes, artwork, and other materials relating to the history of Sellersville.”
